Moomoo Singapore now gives you two ways to hold SGX shares, and the choice moves your costs more than any welcome bonus: on a S$1,000 trade the default custodian account charges about S$1.98 in broker fees after the first year, while linking your own CDP account charges S$9.98.

Both figures exclude SGX's own fees and GST. The rest of the picture as of mid October 2026: US stocks carry US$0 commission and a flat US$0.99 platform fee per order, CPF and SRS money still cannot be used, and a welcome promotion is reported to run until 30 November 2026 with deposit tiers from S$3,000 to S$500,000 and holding periods of 30 to 90 days.

I also need to correct one thing from my September review. It described all SGX shares as sitting in your own CDP account, and that is only true if you link CDP yourself.

What Has Changed on Moomoo Singapore Since Our Last Review?

Illustration of a trading app on a phone beside the Singapore skyline

Fee and promo terms move often, so Moomoo's own pages are the final word.

My September review of Moomoo Singapore covered the basics: the S$0 minimum, the charting tools and the fee headline. Three things look different now. CDP linking and CDP Digital Transfer are both live, so SGX shares can stay in your own name or move into Moomoo.

The Singapore fee card really contains two price points that older write-ups, mine included, blurred together. And the welcome rewards now sit on a four tier deposit ladder.

In plain terms, Moomoo is two products inside one app. One is a cheap custodian account that works like most app brokers. The other is a pricier CDP linked account that works like the traditional bank brokerage route. Most of the confusion in broker comparisons comes from mixing the two.

Here is the correction I owe you. My September review called Moomoo's parent Hong Kong-listed and said SGX shares always sit under your own CDP account.

Futu Holdings is listed on the Nasdaq, and the default Moomoo account holds SGX shares through a custodian structure. Only the CDP linked route puts them in your own name.

Should I Hold SGX Shares Through CDP Linking or the Custodian Account?

Same shares, two different legal paths. The cost and the paperwork differ.

This is the question older reviews skipped, and it is the one that decides your fees. Under the custodian structure, Moomoo holds your SGX shares on your behalf and you are the beneficial owner. Under CDP linking, the shares settle into your own CDP account, the same place they would sit if you traded through a bank.

That bold row is the honest crux of it. Holding in your own name costs roughly five times more per trade, so the question is whether direct ownership is worth that gap to you.

Personally, I would weigh it this way. If you trade a few SGX counters a handful of times a year and mostly care about low costs, the custodian route is hard to argue against.

If you like receiving corporate notices directly, want to attend AGMs, or simply prefer your shares to sit in your own CDP account, the extra fee is the price of that preference. It is a values call as much as a cost call.

How Do I Link My CDP Account to Moomoo?

Linking is free and takes about one to three business days. The steps, as the app currently describes them:

  1. In the Moomoo app, go to Account and select Link CDP Account, or search for CDP.

  2. Enter your CDP account number, making sure it matches CDP's records exactly.

  3. Submit the request and sign the consent form.

  4. Wait for verification and approval.

  5. When you place an SGX order, switch the account selector at the top of the order screen to your CDP account.

One detail worth knowing before you sell: make sure the shares have fully settled first, otherwise you can run into settlement penalties. Menu names change between app versions, so treat the labels above as a guide rather than gospel. If you are new to CDP itself, my beginner guide to opening a CDP account and trading Singapore stocks walks through that side.

What Does Moomoo Actually Cost to Trade in 2026?

For SGX stocks, ETFs and REITs, the broker fee depends on which account you use. The custodian account charges a 0.03% commission and a 0.03% platform fee, each with a S$0.99 minimum, and new users get the commission waived for the first year.

The CDP linked account charges a 0.10% commission and a 0.12% platform fee, each with a S$4.99 minimum. Here is what that means in dollars, before SGX's own fees and GST.

Trade size

Custodian, year one

Custodian, after year one

CDP linked

S$1,000

S$0.99

S$1.98

S$9.98

S$5,000

S$1.50

S$3.00

S$11.00

S$10,000

S$3.00

S$6.00

S$22.00

Read the S$5,000 row as an example. If you place 20 orders of that size in a year after the promo period, the CDP route costs about S$160 more than the custodian route. That is the real price of holding in your own name.

On top of the broker fees, SGX charges its own 0.0075% trading fee and 0.0325% clearing fee, which is roughly S$0.40 on a S$1,000 trade, and GST of 9% applies to the fees. For US stocks, the card is simpler: US$0 commission and a flat US$0.99 platform fee per order. Fractional orders below one share carry no commission, and the platform fee is 0.99% of the amount, capped at US$0.99.

Moomoo also lists a 4.80% annual margin rate on SGD and USD borrowing, which I would treat with care unless you already know how margin works. Cash Plus, the money market fund feature, has no subscription or redemption fees, although its returns are not guaranteed.

Can I Move My Existing SGX Shares Into Moomoo?

Yes, through CDP Digital Transfer. This is different from CDP linking. Linking leaves your shares in CDP and lets Moomoo trade against them. Transfer-in physically moves eligible shares from your CDP account into your Moomoo custodian account, where they sit beside your other holdings in one portfolio view.

  • Cost to move in: Moomoo says it does not currently charge a fee for transferring eligible holdings in, and it covers the applicable CDP charges.

  • Timing: about three to five business days according to Moomoo, although one review quoted two to three. Avoid trading those shares while the transfer is processing, as that can make it fail.

  • What cannot move: Singapore Savings Bonds, suspended or delisted securities, and frozen holdings. A full transfer leaves anything ineligible behind in CDP.

  • Cost to move out: this is the catch. Moving shares back to CDP is reported at S$100 per stock per transfer from Moomoo, plus a S$10 CDP charge per stock.

So the move in is free, but the exit is not. If you might want your shares back in CDP later, I would think hard before transferring a portfolio of many small positions.

What Is the Moomoo Welcome Promo Worth Right Now?

Illustration of a magnifying glass over a promotion voucher and fee tag

The headline numbers look bigger than the percentages underneath them.

The current campaign is reported to run until 30 November 2026. It needs fresh funds deposited into your Moomoo Singapore account and kept there for the stated period. Rewards come as fractional NVIDIA shares plus trading coupons, not cash.

Tier

Fresh deposit and hold

NVIDIA shares

Trading coupons

Total as share of deposit

1

S$3,000 for 30 days

S$20

S$40

S$60, about 2.0%

2

S$10,000 for 90 days

S$120

S$80

S$200, about 2.0%

3

S$100,000 for 90 days

S$370

S$410

S$780, about 0.8%

4

S$500,000 for 90 days

S$470

S$570

S$1,040, about 0.2%

The detail I would point out is the last column. The reward rate is highest at the entry tiers and falls sharply as the deposit grows, so the biggest headline number is not the best deal per dollar. Smaller investors get the most out of this ladder.

There are two smaller extras. Completing two qualifying orders unlocks S$30 in trading coupons, and an 8% yield coupon worth up to S$30 for 15 days applies to eligible funds, excluding money market funds, with a S$1,500 minimum order to activate.

The NVIDIA shares stay frozen until you meet the tier's requirement, then credit within seven trading days. These details come from a partner write-up of the campaign, and the offer you see after clicking my link may differ, so read the terms on Moomoo's own page before you plan around any number here.

How Do I Open a Moomoo Account Through InvestKaki?

You can open an account through my tracked Moomoo sign-up link. It is a referral link, so InvestKaki may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Account opening usually clears in one to three business days, and there is no minimum deposit.

Whichever way you decide, decide the holding structure first. Your account starts as a custodian account, and you can link CDP afterwards if you want your SGX shares in your own name.

If you are still comparing platforms, my comparison of Tiger, moomoo, IBKR, Webull and Syfe Trade sets Moomoo against the alternatives, and Your Ultimate Guide to Investing Tools is a free companion if you are still working out which platforms you need.

What Are the Risks and Trade-offs?

  • The cheap route and the own-name route are different accounts. The low fee card belongs to the custodian structure. If you want your shares in your own name, budget for the higher CDP linked fees.

  • The first-year commission waiver ends. Custodian costs double on small trades after year one, from S$0.99 to S$1.98 at the minimum.

  • Leaving is costly. Moving shares back out to CDP is reported at S$100 per stock plus a S$10 CDP charge per stock.

  • No CPF or SRS. If retirement money is your main use case, you need a second platform. My SRS investing guide covers the options.

  • No London listings. Irish-domiciled UCITS ETFs are not available.

  • Promo rewards come with strings. Fresh funds, holding periods and frozen shares mean the headline is a ceiling, not an expectation.

  • Fee cards move. Check the live rate card in the app before you trade.

What I would watch next: whether Moomoo shows CDP linked holdings inside the app, and whether it ever adds CPF or SRS support. Either change would make the platform noticeably more complete for a Singapore investor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Moomoo's CDP account and custodian account?

In the custodian account, Moomoo holds your SGX shares and you are the beneficial owner. In a CDP linked account, the shares settle into your own CDP account. The custodian route is cheaper, and the CDP route keeps the shares in your own name.

How do I link my CDP account to Moomoo Singapore?

Open the Account section of the app, choose Link CDP Account, enter your CDP account number, submit and sign the consent form. Approval usually takes about one to three business days and linking itself is free.

How much does it cost to trade SGX stocks on Moomoo in 2026?

On a S$1,000 trade, broker fees are S$0.99 in year one on the custodian account, S$1.98 after that, and S$9.98 on the CDP linked account. SGX trading and clearing fees and 9% GST come on top.

Can I use CPF or SRS on Moomoo Singapore?

No. Moomoo does not support CPF Ordinary Account or SRS investing at the time of writing. You would need another platform for that money.

Can I move my existing SGX shares to Moomoo?

Yes, through CDP Digital Transfer in the app. Moomoo says it does not currently charge to move eligible shares in. Moving them back out is reported at S$100 per stock plus a S$10 CDP charge per stock.

What does Moomoo charge for US stocks?

US$0 commission and a flat US$0.99 platform fee per order. Regulatory and exchange fees may still apply, so check the live rate card.

Is Moomoo Singapore regulated by MAS?

Moomoo Financial Singapore Pte. Ltd. is reported to be licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. You can confirm its status in the MAS Financial Institutions Directory before you open an account.

Does Moomoo still have a welcome promotion?

A campaign with four deposit tiers is reported to run until 30 November 2026, paying fractional NVIDIA shares and trading coupons. Terms change, so confirm the current offer on Moomoo's own page.

Do I still get dividends and AGM access with the custodian account?

Dividends are credited through Moomoo. Voting and AGM participation are typically handled through the custodian, which can be less direct than CDP. If attending AGMs matters to you, the CDP linked route is the one to weigh.

The Bottom Line

What Moomoo gives a Singapore investor is choice. You can run a low cost custodian account for most of your trading, link CDP when you want shares in your own name, and move existing SGX holdings in for free. For US stocks, the flat US$0.99 fee remains one of the more competitive cards around.

The open question is whether you value direct ownership enough to pay roughly five times the broker fee per SGX trade. That is a personal call, and I would rather you make it knowingly than discover it from a statement. The welcome promo is worth the most to smaller deposits and should be read as a ceiling.

If you open an account, decide your holding structure before your first SGX order, confirm the live fee card in the app, and check the promo terms before 30 November 2026.
